Starting a travel agency website is quite a fantastic way to go if I must say so myself, all it takes is connecting hotels and resorts to customers… and also plane tickets, restaurants, taxis or rental cars, parking, and a whole other bunch of services that you really don’t have to worry about though! So when it comes down to the basics, all you need to do is sign up for an affiliate program, get a website and a template, and promote your website. So let’s get started:

First, you will want to register a domain from your favorite domain registrar (Try MadDogDomains.com) and find a domain name with something like “travel” or “relaxing” or “resort” or anything else like that! Next, you will need good and reliable website hosting, I suggest using HostMonster.com, and they have great service, fast servers, and are extremely reliable! Finally, get a good and free template of your choice! Just go to Google and type in “Free Travel Agency Website Template” and you will have plenty of choices to download free templates of your choice! Next we will need to install the template and join an affiliate program in step two.

Step 2: Install the template and join an affiliate program of your choice

In this step you will need to install your template and join an affiliate program. When installing your template you will need to leave a bit of room for customization to integrate the affiliate program to your website. However, you will want to add unique content and a few articles to keep your visitors interested in your website. Then you will want to join an affiliate program, now you can join just about any affiliate network and they will probably have some advertisers offering traveling programs for you to join, or you can search on Google for a good affiliate program to join! Try this out: “Travel Agency Affiliate Program” and you will find plenty of programs to join, pick the one that offers the best programs!

Step 3: Promote Your Website

Promoting your new travel affiliate website you will want to focus on finding you’re demographic, which will be mostly male above the age of 25. You will want to narrow it down a bit from there as well. Then you will want to use an advertising network like Google Adsense, Yahoo, Adbrite, or Bidvertiser to find websites to advertise on with that similar demographic. I suggest using Adbrite (it is statistically the cheapest) and find travel related websites from there, I suggest trying to find blogs and informative websites on traveling, this will help you find the best targeted traffic that will convert to sales the easiest therefore earning you more money!

And that is that! I should also mention that the last step is a bit of an experiment, you will have to learn what works and what doesn’t by trial and error, because everyone is different, and if I told you what exactly does work it would make it too costly because everyone would be bidding for the exact same keywords. After you have installed your script and customized it just the way you like it, it is now time to promote your website! This can get a bit tricky, however using the right steps and methods, it will be a breeze. First you will want to develop back links, try to trade links with some other established cooking websites; this will drive some traffic as well as get you some good quality back links. Next, you will want to advertise on competing websites, I recommend going on Google and searching for a few competitors websites, find what type of ads they use (for Google Adsense, it will say “ads by Google Adsense” at the bottom), then join the ad program they use and advertise on there! This will drive even more traffic to your website and increase your income further, as well as this will hopefully get you a loyal following so when people need recipes for anything they will go to your website (that’s the goal at least). Now, if you are a bit crazy and have some money to spare, I highly recommend doing a press release through prweb.com. This will drive tons of targeted traffic to your website and will hopefully get you a few sponsorship deals, which I will talk about in step three.

Step 3: Make Money with Ads!

Remember how I said that a recipe website has “a bunch of new advertising opportunities”? Well, let me show you what I mean. After you get some good traffic to your website, it’s time to put some new advertisements on your website! I recommend signing up for Tribal Fusion and ADSDAQ. To increase your cash flow by even more is getting sponsorship deals! Talk to some local companies about advertising on your website! Especially someone who makes for example pots and pans for cooking or even some silverware and ladles or anything! And charge them about $100 per month per banner, if you get two or three banners going that will be $200 to $300 a month! This isn’t a significant income, but you can defiantly increase that by adding another banner or two or increase your prices slowly!

Well that’s it, three steps and you will have a great recipe website for the growing cooking demand! Just experiment! Even selling a cookbook on your website can turn out to be a huge success! Choose a niche, I just laid out a few in the intro paragraph, but that’s just a few examples, you can choose any topic you want! After you choose a niche it’s time to register a domain from your favorite domain registrar (Your Domain Registration Company Here), find a domain name with a primary keyword from your niche in it, for example, bikingblog.com is a fantastic domain name for any biking enthusiast! Next, you will need great website hosting, I recommend using HostMonster.com, and they are quite amazing, great support, great server speed, and fantastic reliability! Finally, get a good script, I recommend using a blog, this will make installation a breeze and editing and upgrading will be just a few clicks away too! So go to your HostMonster.com cPanel, and go to Fantastico, then choose the WordPress link to install your blog. Then you will need to go to wordpress.org to choose a great theme for your website. Then finally to SEO your website and add other neat features go to the same website and choose the plugins directory and find the “all-in-one SEO pack” and install that. Then find whatever other plugins you want!

Step 2: Write Content!

Write on your website, as much as possible, preferably one article a day. I get a lot of emails from new webmasters telling me that they hate to write. Well there is a more expensive short cut for you people, go to Google.com and search for “content writers.” You will find plenty of people willing to write unique content for your website. Remember, the more unique content you write the more Google will probably index your site and rank it well too! But this won’t happen until you do step three.

Step 3: Promote Your Blog!

Just like every other article I have written this process is almost identical to the other articles, build links, build links, build links, submit to article directories, and add a touch of forum posting. So, build back links, find some great and high page ranking directories like DMOZ.org and BOTW.org and submit to them! Look up “directory” on Google, you will find plenty to submit to. Next, submit to article directories, here is a link to 200+ article directories with page rank. And finally, go on Google.com and search for forums that share the same niche as you do, for example “mountain biking forum” and submit some of your articles to those forums with a link to your website!

Step 4: Make Money!

Here is what I suggest, getting the Author Advertising Plugin from wordpress.org, this will help you place effective advertisements on your website! So place your Google Adsense code on your website using that plugin as well as use text-link-ads.com once you get your alexa.com rank below two million!

Finally, get a good and free forum script, I recommend using PHPBB, it’s a great script and you can get it free and installed very easy using Fantastico DeLuxe from HostMonster.com’s cPanel!

Step 2: Promote Your Forum!

Promoting a forum can be a very difficult task, not only do you have to find people interested in talking about your niche, but you have to find a lot of them or else if a visitor posts a question and nobody is there to help him or her answer it then that visitor will just leave and never come back! This is why you as the webmaster must be extremely active in the forum for the first few months. This time is crucial! One of the most effective ways is to go to competing forums and pay some of the affiliates as little as $0.05 per post, to write content and post it on your forum, even if it’s just answering questions of other visitors or having a friendly conversation about your niche! This will help you promote your forums because the paid affiliates will be actively posting trying to earn as much money as you can meanwhile the visitors that you bring will feel like your forum is very active and they will feel more apt to stay and chat!

Step 3: Making Money, With Techniques to Expand.

In order to make some good money and expand your forum at the same time I strongly recommend making your forum a revenue sharing forum! Set up your forum so that a registered visitor can put in their Google Adsense ID and every time they start a thread their Google Adsense banner is put up on the thread and they will earn some money from posting on there! Image hosting websites are great! Sharing hilarious photos with the whole world, or keeping an old family portrait alive for the family to view anytime and anywhere, it’s great! One can make quite a bit of money with a picture hosting website, and I would love to show you how.

Step 1: Domain, Website Hosting, Script.

First off, get a domain from your favorite registrar (Your Domain Registrar Here); find a domain with one of these keywords in your domain name: image, picture, pic, or hosting. Next, get reliable website hosting, I suggest using HostMonster.com, they have fantastic customer support, they use cPanel, which is a very easy-to-use control panel, and they are very reliable. What more do you want? Fast servers? Well they have those too! Finally, get a great image hosting script, the best, free, one I have found is from my good buddies at Scripteen, here is their Image Hosting Script.

Step 2: Install and Promote

Installing is quite easy, especially on a cPanel control panel; they will have provided very detailed instructions along with the script! However, if you want me to, I will install the script for a small fee ($5), just send me an email (use contact link up top) and I will get it done usually within 24 hours. Then you will need to promote your website. This can be very easy, and very difficult, for a few reasons, if you try to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) the website, the best way is to write a short article on your website about website hosting and about how your service is very fast and reliable, and then you will need to submit your new website to as many directories as possible. That’s how the other image hosting websites have SEO’ed their website, tons and tons of links with a bit of unique content. Next, you will need to get some pictures (try to find some non-copyrighted hilarious ones) and submit them to forums, lots of forums, as well as some websites that feature funny pictures and other unique content. I just provided you with two links to Google with some keywords and listings that will guarantee your success. Go down those two lists and choose 10 from each. On the link to Google with the keywords “hilarious pictures” find a link on each of those with a “add content” or “submit pictures” or something to that effect, when you find that link, then sign up and submit your content. You will get some perfect back links and a lot of great traffic to your image hosting website as well!

Step 3: CPC Ads For Cash

Cost Per Click (CPC) ads for cash, that’s right, I am actually suggesting that you use CPC ads instead of using CPM (Cost Per 1,000 Impressions) ads. This is because with my experience with image hosting websites, the visitors visit your website for the picture that is there; after they have seen it they typically do two things:

1. Search for more pictures

Or

2. Leave.

Now, with both options the visitor will typically look around the page they are on to see if anything interests them before they leave or search for more pictures. This is where your ads come in, if they see your ads, they will read them, this greatly increases your chances of them clicking on the ads, therefore you will get a much better CTR (Click Through Rate), more so than say, a proxy website where the visitors are not focused on your ads, but on the website they are surfing. So that is why I am suggesting that you place Google Adsense advertisements on your website, Or Yahoo Publisher Network ads, or even Bidvertiser ads. This will earn you much more income per visitor than other CPM advertisements would. Another trick you could try, which I just thought of, is you could place CPALead.com advertisements on your website! Now, what CPALead.com does is their advertisement is very unique; it’s a popup ad that blocks the content on your website until the visitor completes a survey. I know this does sound kind of cruel… However I believe that theoretically this could increase your revenue drastically! Think about this, the visitor has one reason to come to your website, the picture that you are hosting, if you block this until they do a survey, I believe that most of them would do it! And that would give you an average of $0.50 per visitor! Now, I can see that the easy downside could be that you would have less of a returning subscriber base, but the increase in revenue might be completely worth it! I would suggest trying this out after your image hosting website has a good subscriber base of around 100 to 500 members, see if this really effects the number of active users, or not. And please let me know your findings! I am interested in this!
