Step 1: Register a Domain, Get Website Hosting, and a Script.

First, you will want to register a domain name from your favorite domain registrar (Your Domain Registration Company Here), try to find a domain with the keyword “recipes” or even “cooking” in the name! Next, get some reliable website hosting! I suggest HostMonster.com, they have great service, fast servers, great support teams, and almost 100% reliability uptime! Finally, you will need a good and free recipe script! For this, I recommend using the EasySiteNetwork.com recipe script. It gets a bit complicated to install because it uses MySQL databases, however, I can always install the script for you for only $5. Just email me a request!

Step 2: Promote your Website!

After you have installed your script and customized it just the way you like it, it is now time to promote your website! This can get a bit tricky, however using the right steps and methods, it will be a breeze. First you will want to develop back links, try to trade links with some other established cooking websites; this will drive some traffic as well as get you some good quality back links. Next, you will want to advertise on competing websites, I recommend going on Google and searching for a few competitors websites, find what type of ads they use (for Google Adsense, it will say “ads by Google Adsense” at the bottom), then join the ad program they use and advertise on there! This will drive even more traffic to your website and increase your income further, as well as this will hopefully get you a loyal following so when people need recipes for anything they will go to your website (that’s the goal at least). Now, if you are a bit crazy and have some money to spare, I highly recommend doing a press release through prweb.com. This will drive tons of targeted traffic to your website and will hopefully get you a few sponsorship deals, which I will talk about in step three.

Step 3: Make Money with Ads!

Remember how I said that a recipe website has “a bunch of new advertising opportunities”? Well, let me show you what I mean. After you get some good traffic to your website, it’s time to put some new advertisements on your website! I recommend signing up for Tribal Fusion and ADSDAQ. To increase your cash flow by even more is getting sponsorship deals! Talk to some local companies about advertising on your website! Especially someone who makes for example pots and pans for cooking or even some silverware and ladles or anything! And charge them about $100 per month per banner, if you get two or three banners going that will be $200 to $300 a month! This isn’t a significant income, but you can defiantly increase that by adding another banner or two or increase your prices slowly!

Well that’s it, three steps and you will have a great recipe website for the growing cooking demand! Just experiment! Even selling a cookbook on your website can turn out to be a huge success! First, you will want to find a domain name from your favorite domain registrar (Your Domain Registration Company Here), try to find a domain name with a keyword from your niche and then the keyword “forum” too. This will help SEO (Search Engine Optimize) the website very nicely! Next, you will want to get great website hosting, this is a very crucial step, I recommend using HostMonster.com. I can’t stress this enough, get good website hosting! There are so many websites that get mixed up with the wrong type of website hosting company and the company goes down the drain along with your money. Another scare that’s popping up is ‘fly-by-night’ website hosting companies; these companies are scams and just take your money and leave. This is why I use HostMonster.com they are a legal, registered company that has proven they are legitimate and are here to server you better than any other company I have used. Finally, get a good and free forum script, I recommend using PHPBB, it’s a great script and you can get it free and installed very easy using Fantastico DeLuxe from HostMonster.com’s cPanel!

Step 2: Promote Your Forum!

Promoting a forum can be a very difficult task, not only do you have to find people interested in talking about your niche, but you have to find a lot of them or else if a visitor posts a question and nobody is there to help him or her answer it then that visitor will just leave and never come back! This is why you as the webmaster must be extremely active in the forum for the first few months. This time is crucial! One of the most effective ways is to go to competing forums and pay some of the affiliates as little as $0.05 per post, to write content and post it on your forum, even if it’s just answering questions of other visitors or having a friendly conversation about your niche! This will help you promote your forums because the paid affiliates will be actively posting trying to earn as much money as you can meanwhile the visitors that you bring will feel like your forum is very active and they will feel more apt to stay and chat!

Step 3: Making Money, With Techniques to Expand.

In order to make some good money and expand your forum at the same time I strongly recommend making your forum a revenue sharing forum! Set up your forum so that a registered visitor can put in their Google Adsense ID and every time they start a thread their Google Adsense banner is put up on the thread and they will earn some money from posting on there! This is a great opportunity for you; this will promote more and more activity on your forum and encourage people to start posting like crazy so they can earn more money! And if you set it up so that their ad banner is shown only ½ the time then your banner is shown the other half then this will increase your income from the website dramatically!

Image hosting websites are great! Sharing hilarious photos with the whole world, or keeping an old family portrait alive for the family to view anytime and anywhere, it’s great! One can make quite a bit of money with a picture hosting website, and I would love to show you how.

Step 1: Domain, Website Hosting, Script.

First off, get a domain from your favorite registrar (Your Domain Registrar Here); find a domain with one of these keywords in your domain name: image, picture, pic, or hosting. Next, get reliable website hosting, I suggest using HostMonster.com, they have fantastic customer support, they use cPanel, which is a very easy-to-use control panel, and they are very reliable. What more do you want? Fast servers? Well they have those too! Finally, get a great image hosting script, the best, free, one I have found is from my good buddies at Scripteen, here is their Image Hosting Script.

Step 2: Install and Promote

Installing is quite easy, especially on a cPanel control panel; they will have provided very detailed instructions along with the script! However, if you want me to, I will install the script for a small fee ($5), just send me an email (use contact link up top) and I will get it done usually within 24 hours. Then you will need to promote your website. This can be very easy, and very difficult, for a few reasons, if you try to Search Engine Optimize (SEO) the website, the best way is to write a short article on your website about website hosting and about how your service is very fast and reliable, and then you will need to submit your new website to as many directories as possible. That’s how the other image hosting websites have SEO’ed their website, tons and tons of links with a bit of unique content. Next, you will need to get some pictures (try to find some non-copyrighted hilarious ones) and submit them to forums, lots of forums, as well as some websites that feature funny pictures and other unique content. I just provided you with two links to Google with some keywords and listings that will guarantee your success. Go down those two lists and choose 10 from each. On the link to Google with the keywords “hilarious pictures” find a link on each of those with a “add content” or “submit pictures” or something to that effect, when you find that link, then sign up and submit your content. You will get some perfect back links and a lot of great traffic to your image hosting website as well!

Step 3: CPC Ads For Cash

Cost Per Click (CPC) ads for cash, that’s right, I am actually suggesting that you use CPC ads instead of using CPM (Cost Per 1,000 Impressions) ads. This is because with my experience with image hosting websites, the visitors visit your website for the picture that is there; after they have seen it they typically do two things:

1. Search for more pictures

Or

2. Leave.

Now, with both options the visitor will typically look around the page they are on to see if anything interests them before they leave or search for more pictures. This is where your ads come in, if they see your ads, they will read them, this greatly increases your chances of them clicking on the ads, therefore you will get a much better CTR (Click Through Rate), more so than say, a proxy website where the visitors are not focused on your ads, but on the website they are surfing. So that is why I am suggesting that you place Google Adsense advertisements on your website, Or Yahoo Publisher Network ads, or even Bidvertiser ads. This will earn you much more income per visitor than other CPM advertisements would. Another trick you could try, which I just thought of, is you could place CPALead.com advertisements on your website! Now, what CPALead.com does is their advertisement is very unique; it’s a popup ad that blocks the content on your website until the visitor completes a survey. I know this does sound kind of cruel… However I believe that theoretically this could increase your revenue drastically! Think about this, the visitor has one reason to come to your website, the picture that you are hosting, if you block this until they do a survey, I believe that most of them would do it! And that would give you an average of $0.50 per visitor! Now, I can see that the easy downside could be that you would have less of a returning subscriber base, but the increase in revenue might be completely worth it! I would suggest trying this out after your image hosting website has a good subscriber base of around 100 to 500 members, see if this really effects the number of active users, or not. Bam! Bam! Bam! Three strikes you are OUT! Well in this case, you’re safe, as long as you follow through with my three step program to being a successful affiliate! What is an affiliate? And who would I be an affiliate of? An affiliate is roughly a volunteer promoter of a company, and by volunteer I mean you only get paid by commission, sometimes you will get paid per click (PPC/CPC), and even more rarely you will get paid per thousands of impressions (CPM); the PPC and CPM side of this is more being a publisher, but I won’t get into that now. Most affiliates get paid by CPA or Cost Per Acquisition, also known as CPS, Cost Per Sale, or even CPL Cost Per Lead. Here’s how this whole situation plays out: There are three things you need to know about before I explain how the system works. First there are networks out there (like Commission Junction, CLixGalore, LinkShare, or ClickBooth), advertisers pay these websites to list their need for affiliates to sell their products or services these are called programs, finally, you, the affiliate join these programs in search of advertisers programs to make money off of by promoting their products on your website (or some other means, I will get into later). You join an affiliate network and apply (and get accepted into) a company’s program, the affiliate network will provide you with a tracking code specific to the company’s website and often times a specific product on the company’s website. Simply after that you promote the product or service and each time you refer someone through your tracking code to the website and they purchase something, you get a commission off of it; seldom are commissions more than 10%. As for CPL (Cost Per Lead), it works just the same only CPL offers are usually for loans and mortgage type advertisers, you won’t actually get paid unless the customer is approved for a loan. However, sometimes there are CPL advertisers who want a customer’s information (phone number, email address, ect.) in this case; as long as the advertiser gets this information you will get paid regardless if they purchase the product or service! So here are your steps to success:

Step 1: Domain, Hosting. . . Template?

Just as all my articles’ step 1 starts out: Domain, your favorite registrar (For example: DomainRegistry.com) and find a domain based on the products you want to sell (pick something you are interested in selling). Then, get a great hosting company I recommend, as always, hostmonster.com, in my opinion they are the best of the best! Great service, fast hosting, and almost 100% server uptime! And then find a great website template, yes I said template! You won’t want to use a blogging format, unless you want to promote the service as a “product review” type website, but even then I don’t recommend it. So here’s what I suggest, get WordPress (you just said no blogging, let me explain…) and find an ecommerce template. Does that make sense? No? Let me explain further, WordPress will help you maintain the best SEO techniques with a few simple plugins as well as you will be able to easily promote products using article postings. If you find a template that doesn’t exactly look like a blog you will get better results. Act almost like you are selling the product yourself, and make sure to put text links for their products all over your site as well as a few banner ads. Now on to step two!

Step 2: Find The Right Affiliate Network And Advertiser

I recommend using any of the programs I noted above, especially LinkShare; they will have the best selection of advertisers available. After that, search for your advertiser! A few quick tips, as I said above, make sure you choose a product you are interested in selling, especially a product that you use yourself, this will definitely help you write content promoting the products. Also, I know I really don’t need to say this, but find something high paying, you don’t want anything below 3%, it just doesn’t pay, unless you’re selling cars.

Step 3: Market, Promote, Advertise.

This section is normally where I tell you how to advertise or promote your website using conventional means. Well, here’s the thing, most of the time you will be promoting products that, one, are already being promoted through multiple advertising venues, two, is already being promoted through search engines (like Google Adwords), and three, there is a very good chance that it is against the programs special rules to advertise for certain keywords in certain areas. And there is a very good reason for that policy, so you aren’t competing with the company you are trying to promote! Here’s what I suggest, lots of times companies like this are either too stupid, or too high and mighty to advertise for free or at least very cheap and effectively. What I am talking about is Search Engine Optimization and forum or blog posting. As I said earlier, using WordPress with a few add-ons (All-In-One SEO Pack add-on) will greatly help you out in the website optimizing, all you pretty much have to do is write content for your website, then post it out on a few forums relating to your websites product, and submit to article directories. Now, blogs come in hand because chances are that other people have blogged about the same product, or same kind of products. Find a bunch of these blogs and post comments about the articles they have written, say something like “Great Article! Hope to read more from you!” Then post your link at the bottom, or often times the comment box will have an area for you to put your URL in. This is free promoting! And it’s pretty damn easy too!

Just that easy! It really shouldn’t take you more than an hour to set up your website and choose an affiliate network. After they accept you, you can start writing a few articles, promote them, and start raking in cash! And this is great because you don’t have to worry about shipping products or keeping them in stock or anything like that! Not even customer service! That’s why being an affiliate is a fantastic home run!
