How To Start A Successful Special Interest Website

Special interest websites are basically content websites with a specific niche; they can be anything from article directories to blogs, which are basically the same thing, which is my whole point. Starting a special interest websites usually encompass a central theme around a fun or leisurely activity like mountain biking, hiking, computer games, football, baseball, golf, or even go-kart racing, or ding-dong-ditching. So let’s get to it:

Step 1: Choose a niche, register your domain, get great website hosting, and a script!

Choose a niche, I just laid out a few in the intro paragraph, but that’s just a few examples, you can choose any topic you want! After you choose a niche it’s time to register a domain from your favorite domain registrar (Your Domain Registration Company Here), find a domain name with a primary keyword from your niche in it, for example, bikingblog.com is a fantastic domain name for any biking enthusiast! Next, you will need great website hosting, I recommend using HostMonster.com, and they are quite amazing, great support, great server speed, and fantastic reliability! Finally, get a good script, I recommend using a blog, this will make installation a breeze and editing and upgrading will be just a few clicks away too! So go to your HostMonster.com cPanel, and go to Fantastico, then choose the WordPress link to install your blog. Then you will need to go to wordpress.org to choose a great theme for your website. Then finally to SEO your website and add other neat features go to the same website and choose the plugins directory and find the “all-in-one SEO pack” and install that. Then find whatever other plugins you want!

Step 2: Write Content!

Write on your website, as much as possible, preferably one article a day. I get a lot of emails from new webmasters telling me that they hate to write. Well there is a more expensive short cut for you people, go to Google.com and search for “content writers.” You will find plenty of people willing to write unique content for your website. Remember, the more unique content you write the more Google will probably index your site and rank it well too! But this won’t happen until you do step three.

Step 3: Promote Your Blog!

Just like every other article I have written this process is almost identical to the other articles, build links, build links, build links, submit to article directories, and add a touch of forum posting. So, build back links, find some great and high page ranking directories like DMOZ.org and BOTW.org and submit to them! Look up “directory” on Google, you will find plenty to submit to. Next, submit to article directories, here is a link to 200+ article directories with page rank. And finally, go on Google.com and search for forums that share the same niche as you do, for example “mountain biking forum” and submit some of your articles to those forums with a link to your website!

Step 4: Make Money!

Here is what I suggest, getting the Author Advertising Plugin from wordpress.org, this will help you place effective advertisements on your website! So place your Google Adsense code on your website using that plugin as well as use text-link-ads.com once you get your alexa.com rank below two million!
