How To Start A Successful Proxy Website Network

In this article I will list out the steps on how to start a successful proxy network, a proxy is no doubt, the best starter website for any new webmaster, but don’t get me wrong, I have been webmastering for years and years and I currently own a proxy network of 100 glype proxies! So, here are a few things you need to know: First off, a proxy is a website that someone goes to in order to protect their identity, you will surf websites through this proxy, thus keeping your IP address safe and a large portion of your identity safe as well, this is why they are so popular! Next, owning a proxy website comes with a very simple risk, make sure your proxy script keeps records (logs) of every single IP address that came to your proxy and what websites they went to. Why? Because there was an incident with a fellow who owned a network of proxies and a hacker decided to hack a very important bank server using this proxy, the hacker was attempting to steal bank account numbers without revealing his own IP address. Long story short, the hackers plan was a success, he got the account numbers, stole some money, the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation – USA) tracked down the proxy webmaster and took him into custody, two days later he was released, because he kept logs of all the activity on his proxy, and the criminal hacker was caught a month later in Bermuda, he was tried in a federal court and convicted. So, long story short, there is a risk, but that is the only case I have heard of a proxy webmaster getting into any sort of trouble. However, this was great publicity for his proxy, I talked personally with the guy (I won’t give his name, you can find it just as easily by looking up the police report or the million news articles on this case) and he told me that after the incident and the media press releases, his proxy traffic skyrocketed and he saw over 1000x more traffic than he had ever seen on his proxy, and he earned over $3,000 that month for sponsor deals and Google Adsense income. And the final downside to proxies (remember, that’s what I was originally talking about!) is hosting, its hard to find cheap and good proxy hosting, but don’t worry, I have your answer! So enough about these insignificant tribulations, to the steps!

Step 1: Domain, Website Hosting, and a Script.

Get a domin from your favorite domain registrar (your domain registrar here), try to find a random name, it really doesn’t have to be anything! It can be a random assortment of characters and numbers if you would like. I suggest getting a .info domain though… Next, website hosting, this will be different, because HostMonster.com, as great as they are, do not allow proxy websites. So I have searched, and searched, and searched some more, but I have finally found the answer, this may seem a bit crazy, and a bit rushed, but I suggest VPS hosting with Santrex, they are affordable, good, and have great support! So heres what you do, get about 25 to 50 .info domains, set them up on this VPS server, and get the Glype script with a free template, just go to GlypeDesigns.com for a free glype template! They are real easy to setup! And here is a deal I will cut to all my members, for $5 I will install 5 proxies, for an extra $1 per domain I will also submit your proxies to 87 proxy topsites, which I will get into in step 2. So that’s all for step one, domain, Santrex VPS, and Glype script with a free template!

Step 2: Submit, Submit, and Then… Submit Some More.

I know its boring, and I know it’s extremely mind numbing, but you have got to do it. Submit your brand new proxy to as many topsites as you can. Whats a proxy topsite? A website that lots of proxy webmasters submit their proxies to and a lot of people come to find proxies there as well! So heres the easy way out, go to proxysubmitter.net, submit each of your proxies to 82 topsites using this tool, and then submit your proxy to proxy.org and tech-faq.com. Another few quick tips: a fantastic way to promote your proxies is if you are active in Facebook or Myspace, there are many groups dedicated to proxy webmasters and proxy users, join these groups and promote your proxies!!!! This is FREE and EASY website promotion, so DO IT!

Step 3: Make Advertising Money!

Making money is simple on a proxy, put up ad banners, lots of adbanners, I suggest using Google Adsense on your index, and then some sort of CPM (cost per 1000 impressions) ad banner on your proxy browsing page (usually browse.php for glype). Well that’s it! Three easy steps and you could be up and running with your brand new proxy website network, earnin’ great cash within a few hours! Don’t get me wrong, a proxy network will only earn about $10 per proxy per month. Which isn’t bad because the amount of work that goes into one proxy is very little. So if you put a lot of work submitting to websites and promoting on Myspace and Facebook, well, the more you will earn buddy!
